Hello! The title of this week's blog may seem vague, but that was done on purpose. I wanted to explain more in-depth what the title means, rather than give it away with a nice summarized title, as I do most of the times. This week is different.
So what process am I actually talking about? Is it the process to finish the guidebook? Is it the process of getting officially? It is the latter rather than the former of what I am referring to in this week's title. Significant and steady progress has been made in officially hiring me for the Knights HistoryCast and Florida Historical Quarterly Podcast job this week. I was emailed on Wednesday by the UCF College of Arts and Humanities HR department instructing me to complete and sign several documents and onboarding tasks on the system Workday to officially finish the hiring process. I begun completing the documents that Wednesday night and finished Thursday morning. I had to go in-person to verify my identification with the documents, and I did that today. As of today, at around 12:30 pm, my supervisor Dr. French was notified that I had completed all the documents, onboarding task, and verification, and I can officially begin working as of October 1st. I am beyond excited and all of this, from the start of my original internship back in May, still feels surreal, and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity that I have in front of me and the people that made such a thing a reality for me.
In terms of the guidebook, not much progress has been made in finishing it. I emailed this to Holly, as I want her to red-pen this when the guidebook is almost, if not fully, completed. My goal is to have it almost, if not fully, done before the October 1st date. It would be great if I can have one of the major "internship" (training) tasks completed before the official start date of the job, so I am going to strive to meet this goal. I have this upcoming week essentially. Within this week I also plan on starting to format the interview I had with Dr. Noll (which today the Florida Frontiers version was published, highly recommend checking it out) for one of my first Knights HistoryCast to publish, as I truly believe the full interview should be heard. Finally, I expect to hear from Holly and Dr. French this week, as the official date is approaching, to streamline what I should be prioritizing for the job and this "internship" training phase (if not I will reach out to them).
As I mentioned on this blog before, and countless of other times in my past blogs, I am blessed and beyond motivated to continue this journey of doing history podcasts at UCF. It truly has been surreal, and I am glad that I have been able to manifest what was once a dream for me. I give tremendous thanks and appreciation for all the people that have put me in the special position I am currently in (Holly, Dr. French, Dr. Brotemarkle, Dr. Mormino, Dr. Noll, the list goes on...). I will sincerely and truthfully try my best and represent myself, UCF, and the people I have and will interact and connect with to the best of my ability. Let's work!
